The Process of Refinishing Involves These Simple Steps:

Natural Color:
Your floors are sanded down to the bare wood using a course, medium, and fine sand paper. Floors are then screened, vacuumed and tacked and one coat of sealer is applied. When the sealer coat is dry we then screen, vacuum and tack in between each coat of additional urethane to insure proper adhesion and smoothness.

Stained Color:
Floors will be sanded down to the bare wood using a course, medium, and fine sand paper.  Floors are then screened, vacuumed and tacked and 1 coat of stain is applied.  Several samples of stain will be applied to the floor so you may choose a color.  When the stain is dry, one coat of sealer is applied. When the sealer coat is dry, we then screen, vacuum and tack in between each additional coat of urethane to insure proper adhesion and smoothness.

Luster:
Satin finish - Has some sheen but is the least shiny, does not show as many scuffmarks or scratches
Semi-Gloss - Has a shiny finish
Gloss - Is the shiniest of the finishes, shows more scuffmarks, scratches, and imperfections in the floor
Screen and Recoat: We suggest that your wood floors be screened and recoated to keep them looking good and help extend the life of the floor. Kitchen floors or high traffic areas should be recoated every 1-2 years. If you are using the recommended cleaner, and your floor is showing wear, then give us a call and we will quote you a price.

Here Are Some Things You Need To Know Before Work Begins:

1. There will be noise from the sanding machines, compressors and nail guns and depending on the color and finish you choose there may be some fumes.

2. All pilot lights should be turned off during the finishing process.

3. Pets should be kept away from the work area at all times.

4. To ensure a good job and the best results possible, do not allow foot traffic on the floor until the finish has had ample time to cure 100%. This means that other trades and/or people should be kept away from the floors after they are finished. It is very aggravating when someone else is not using due care making a good job go bad.

5. It is always best to be out of the house during the refinishing process due to the fact that there may be fumes that may be hazardous and the wood floors cannot be walked on until they have had enough time to cure. All fumes will dissipate after the finish has had time to dry completely.
